Luz To Be Published by Routledge in Decentered Playwriting
Luz is a proud contributor to a forthcoming volume of decolonial writing techniques. Decentered Playwriting, edited by Carolyn Dunn, Eric Micha Holmes, and Les Hunter, will be published by Routledge Press in December 2023. Her chapter, titled Towards Self-Construction: A Filipinx Dramaturgy in the Diaspora proposes ethnoautobiography as used in the Filipinx diaspora as both a foundation for a Filipinx Dramaturgy as well as a method of decolonial playwriting for writers of all backgrounds. More information on the volume can be found here.

Macdowell Fellowship Winter 2023
I have graciously accepted an offer to spend a few weeks in residency at the internationally acclaimed artist retreat Macdowell. I will be bringing my project, America, Home, Heart, which loosely adapts Carlos Bulosan’s America Is In The Heart. This project has a two-pronged approach: a stage adaptation of parts of the novel as well as an oral history project that maps recent Filipino-Californian history onto the locations found in the novel. I plan to both draft portions of the novel as well as conduct preliminary research.

SPACE on Ryder Farm
I am so excited to share that I will be spending the summer serving as a Residency Manager at SPACE on Ryder Farm for the 2023 residency season. SPACE is a vital place of rest and nourishment to artists at all stages in their career. It is an honor to be one of the faces of the organization to peer artists this summer.
